Experience

I would like to be a tutor namely because I know what it is like to grasp a subject, but not fully understand what it is that I am learning. If someone had helped me throughout high school and explained the concepts that I barely grasped I feel as though I would have retained much more, therefore I feel as though if I can help someone to understand a subject by sharing a passion or help them in organization that it will help alleviate some of their stress as they continue on their own personal journeys. My SAT test scores were a 500 for the math portion, 580 for the writing portion and a 600 for the critical thinking portion. I received a 24 on the ACT. I am currently in the Honors Program at FPU with a GPA projected at 3.8+ (when this portion of the year is over I shall update this) Reasons behind chosen topics for tutoring: English and English Writing- I have always enjoyed English and have been eager to better my writing skills. Through this I have been recommended for many positions at the University to help others with writing and other English related topics, therefore I feel strongly that I could be productive in this field of study. Study Skills/Organization and Organization- I say this because I am a very organized person when it comes to school work and feel more at ease when I am. I feel as though I could really assist anyone with organization problems due to my own capabilities. I feel I could help with study skills also because I believe the correct way to study is to aim to retain the information and not just learn it for a test; so therefore, the best way to study would be to find a way in which the individual can remember things easiest. I feel as though I could assist an individual in studying for the standardized tests because I have lived through taking them in the recent years. By taking them myself on numerous occasions I retained a knowledge of what to do and what not to do to help better my grade. Biology is the last subject that I feel I could assist a high school student with. This stems from not only my extensive number of classes taken on biology, but also from it being one of my majors.
